Montreal-based fine jewellery brand Ecksand has been awarded the Canadian National Mark, one of the highest recognitions for verified Canadian manufacturing. The certification, issued by the Commissioner of Competition under the Precious Metals Marking Act, confirms that every Ecksand piece is made in Canada—from sourcing gemstones to final polish—under strict quality and traceability standards.
The Canadian National Mark is rare in the jewellery industry. Only 108 certificates have been issued to date, and few companies continue to meet the required standard. Unlike a standard “Made in Canada” label, the National Mark requires verified local production, traceable materials, and compliance with high purity and quality regulations. It is one of the most trusted symbols of authenticity in Canadian jewellery.
For Ecksand, the award reinforces the brand’s core values of ethical sourcing, transparency, and craftsmanship. In a market where the origin of materials is often unclear, the National Mark sets Ecksand apart with certified accountability.
“Sustainability isn’t just a duty for us—it’s at the heart of our design and process,” said Erica Bianchini, Creative Director at Ecksand. “Every choice, from ethically sourced materials to the careful sculpting of each piece, reflects our belief that beauty should be lasting. This recognition confirms what we’ve always stood for: transparency, artistry, and Canadian craftsmanship.”
Founded in 2009, Ecksand operates a fully vertical, eco-friendly atelier in Montreal. The company controls every step of production in-house, creating heirloom-quality rings, bracelets, necklaces, and earrings. This approach allows Ecksand to maintain a transparent supply chain and uphold sustainable practices that appeal to modern buyers.
The Canadian National Mark now serves as official recognition of these long-standing efforts, highlighting Ecksand’s mission to offer responsible luxury that endures for generations.
