A 38-year-old man was arrested at Paphos airport on Thursday after police found a quantity of gold in his hand luggage. He was unable to provide a clear explanation for possessing the jewellery.
Authorities discovered the gold during a routine hand luggage check in the airport’s departures area. The man claimed he owned a gold trading shop and said the jewellery was brought to Cyprus for professional reasons. However, police stated he could not prove this claim.
Following the incident, the man was taken into custody, and the gold jewellery was confiscated as evidence. The police continue to investigate the case.
