A kite-shaped diamond once owned by Marie Antoinette’s daughter, Marie-Thérèse, has been transformed into a stunning ring by the acclaimed jeweller JAR. This unique piece will be available for sale this June.
The design reflects the grandeur of the French royal court where Marie-Thérèse grew up. JAR placed the historic diamond on top of two rings covered with pavé diamonds. The band is also set with pavé diamonds, adding extra sparkle.
JAR is famous for detailed craftsmanship and unusual colours. His jewellery pieces are like wearable sculptures. Each one is custom-made for clients such as Elizabeth Taylor and Diane von Furstenberg. JAR’s impact on jewellery design is unmatched. In 2014, he became the first jeweller to have a retrospective exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Above the large centre diamond in this ring, JAR added a fleur-de-lis made of 17 diamonds. Kadakia, a jewellery expert, explains, “It is a modern design by JAR, but if you look closely, it resembles a crown. He respected the royal history of the diamond while creating a fresh, contemporary piece.”
This ring is not only a beautiful work of art but also a rare artifact of European history. Its impressive provenance makes it a conversation piece that connects past and present. The new owner will have the privilege of carrying this extraordinary jewel into the future.
