A well-respected local jeweler is closing her doors after more than two decades in business—but she’s leaving behind a legacy of love, custom designs and countless precious moments.
Linda McEathron, owner of Design House Jewelry Studio in downtown Waco, is retiring after 21 years of creating one-of-a-kind jewelry for Central Texas residents. While she calls the decision “bittersweet,” she says she’s grateful for the role she played in her customers’ lives.
A lifelong passion for jewelry
A goldsmith for more than 35 years, McEathron discovered her love for jewelry design as a young apprentice. She was drawn to the art of creating jewelry tailored to each customer’s story—a passion that has never faded.
In 2003, she opened Design House Jewelry Studio, originally located inside the now-closed Sironia Jewelry store on Austin Avenue before moving to her own shop on South Fourth Street. McEathron specializes in unique pendants, gemstone jewelry and engagement rings, helping generations of families celebrate life’s most important moments.
Be there for life’s most important moments
From weddings and anniversaries to births and engagements, McEathron’s work is intertwined with her customers’ most intimate memories.
“I think I’m in my fourth generation now,” she says. “I’ve done wedding rings, repair rings, anniversary rings, baby rings—and now, my grandchildren and great-grandchildren come to me for custom engagement rings. It’s a pleasure.”
Frequent customer Ashley Munn of Robinson raves about McEathron’s personalized service and delightful craftsmanship.
“It’s every small business owner’s dream—to be loved by the community and retire with everyone cheering,” Munn says.
A grateful farewell
McEathron looks back on her career with gratitude: “I’m grateful for every love, every laugh and every tear I’ve shared over these 21 years,” she says. “My family trusts me with their most important moments—that’s my greatest joy.”
Now, she looks forward to traveling, spending time with her family, and enjoying the freedom that retirement brings.
“I’ve always said, ‘Do what you love,’ ” McEathron said. “But now it’s time to start a new chapter. Even so, I’m cherishing every minute of this time.”
