Jennifer Lopez turned heads once again with her striking sense of style, stepping out in a dramatic sheer gown inspired by a spiderweb motif during a star-studded tribute to legendary composer John Kander.
Lopez, 55, wore the statement-making dress to “John Kander at Ring Them Bells: A Birthday Celebration,” a one-night-only concert held at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre on May 19. The event marked Kander’s 98th birthday and featured musical tributes from a host of notable performers, including Alan Cumming, Whoopi Goldberg, Kelli O’Hara, and Jinkx Monsoon.
Lopez, who previously starred in Kiss of the Spider Woman—one of Kander’s most acclaimed musicals—performed as part of the celebration. Her outfit choice paid subtle homage to the iconic show.
The singer and actress donned a sheer black gown by Zuhair Murad, styled to resemble a spiderweb. The gown hugged her figure and included a bold black shawl detail draped around her shoulders. She completed the look with sparkling diamond jewelry from Yeprem, including a dramatic choker and drop earrings.
Lopez’s stylist, Mariel Haenn, shared the ensemble on Instagram on May 21, highlighting the carefully curated design. Lopez wore her hair in a sleek bun and opted for smoky eye makeup to enhance the edgy, glamorous aesthetic.
Earlier in the evening, Lopez was seen arriving at the theatre in a different look — a plunging pink gown paired with a matching fur shrug. That outfit, designed by The New Arrivals by Ilkyaz Ozel, demonstrated her flair for switching up styles with ease.
With multiple outfit changes and a performance that honored Kander’s lasting legacy, Lopez once again proved her commitment to fashion and performance, both on and off the stage.
