The National Association of Jewelry Appraisers (NAJA) has once again partnered with jewelry appraisal software provider Instappraise to offer scholarships for jewelry appraisers.
There are two scholarships available. One is for new or non-member aspiring appraisers. The other is for current NAJA certified members.
Gail Brett Levine, executive director of NAJA, said the partnership shows the association’s ongoing commitment to appraisal education. She emphasized their support for individuals working toward professional success.
Applicants must hold a Graduate Gemologist degree or an equivalent certification. Examples include FGA, FGAA, FGG, FCGmA, or RGA.
The Instappraise NAJA Non-Member Scholarship is valued at $2,070. It covers a one-year NAJA membership, lessons one through five of the NAJA Appraisal Studies Course, and a one-year subscription to Instappraise’s software platform.
According to a joint press release, this scholarship offers a strong foundation in appraisal education to help recipients start their careers.
The courses teach ethics, value theory, different types of appraisals, fair market value, and report writing. Students will also complete quizzes, a final exam, and a final appraisal report to improve their skills.
After finishing the lessons within five months, students earn the NAJA Certified Member designation. However, this designation requires two years of appraisal experience.
The Instappraise NAJA Member Scholarship is worth $1,775. It includes a one-year NAJA membership, lessons six through 18 of the Appraisal Studies Course, and a one-year subscription to the Instappraise software.
This scholarship is aimed at current NAJA members and offers chances for further professional growth.
Students must complete lessons six through 18 within 12 months to receive the NAJA Certified Master Appraiser designation. This title requires seven years of appraisal experience and affiliation with a NAJA Accredited Gemological Laboratory.
NAJA’s designations are available only to active members. They are awarded based on education, experience points, exam results, and approval of a sample appraisal report.
Applicants must meet specific eligibility rules and follow the conditions listed on the application website.
As part of the process, applicants need to submit an essay explaining why they deserve the scholarship and how it will benefit their career and professionalism.
The deadline to apply for both scholarships is June 15.
Winners will be announced at the 2025 NAJA summer conference.
