Chantecler, the historic jewelry brand from Capri, has unveiled a new artistic capsule collection in collaboration with Sicilian-based artist Roberto Longo, also known as Roberto di Alicudi.
Although Capri and Alicudi are different in landscape, they share a deep artistic spirit. That connection sparked immediate chemistry between Maria Elena Aprea, Chantecler’s creative director, and Longo, whose nickname comes from his home on the Aeolian island of Alicudi.
Founded in 1947 by Salvatore Aprea and Pietro Capuano, Chantecler is known for its elegant craftsmanship. Now, the brand joins forces with Longo to create a limited series of jewelry pieces using an ancient technique called “pincisanti.” This method involves miniature oil paintings on antique glass — a skill Longo has mastered.
Each piece in the collection is handmade at Longo’s studio in Alicudi. The tiny artworks capture myths, stories, and symbols that link the islands of Capri and Alicudi. Chantecler enhances these miniature paintings by setting them in intricate frames made of rose gold, titanium, and other precious materials. These frames transform the glass art into earrings, brooches, and pendants.
The collection is still evolving as Longo finishes more glass artworks. So far, it includes the Alicudi earrings, which feature a mermaid alongside a star, and a large brooch showing Capri’s famous blue lizard — a rare species that lives on the island’s Faraglioni rocks.
This special line, called “Capricudi” — a blend of the names Capri and Alicudi — will be available only at Chantecler’s flagship boutiques. Each item is one-of-a-kind, combining ancient art with fine jewelry design.
