A 46-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary at a residence in Largs, where jewellery, personal effects and two electric guitars were reportedly stolen.
Police from the Port Stephens-Hunter Police District began investigating the incident after receiving reports of a burglary at a residence in Elm Street on Friday, May 16.
As part of the investigation, police attended a unit block in Marley Street, Gateshead, at around 7.50pm on Tuesday, May 20, where the suspect was arrested.
During the search, police allegedly found a 2.74g methamphetamine in a resealable plastic bag on the man’s person. Police also found two electric guitars and other suspected stolen items in his vehicle.
Further investigations led police to recover several items of jewellery that were alleged to have been pawned.
The man was taken to Belmont Police Station and charged with burglary, two counts of disposing of stolen goods and possession of a prohibited drug.
He was refused bail and is due to appear in Belmont Local Court today.
