Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group Limited has been announced as the official and exclusive sponsor from the jewellery industry for the 15th National Games of the People’s Republic of China. The company is also the sponsor of the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games.
As part of the sponsorship, Chow Tai Fook is leading the design and production of the official medals for these major events. Company leaders, including Vice-chairman Sonia Cheng and Managing Director Kent Wong, attended the medal unveiling ceremony today in Guangzhou. The Games will be held across Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau from November 9 to 21, 2025.
The National Games are held every four years and are considered the country’s most prestigious sports competition. This year marks the first time the event will take place across three cities in the Greater Bay Area—a region where Chow Tai Fook began its journey. The sponsorship reflects the company’s continued support for Chinese sports and its deep roots in the region.
Exclusive Role in Jewellery Industry
Chow Tai Fook is the only jewellery brand sponsoring the Games. It has also been appointed to design and create the medals, highlighting the Group’s strength in craftsmanship and creative design. The company worked closely with the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts to create medals that blend artistic beauty with athletic spirit.
Each medal showcases fine craftsmanship and pays tribute to athletes’ dedication. The design draws from the Games’ official emblem and features a three-layered 3D structure. It includes floral emblems from the host cities, symbolizing unity and vitality. The outer edge has three Möbius rings, representing connection and endless possibilities, and is decorated with 66 ridges to mark the 66-year history of the National Games.
Wave-like patterns on the medals reflect the rivers running through Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau. A “Tongxin Knot” on each medal’s ring is inspired by the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, symbolizing unity and cultural creativity in the Greater Bay Area.
The medals for competition events also include a peony pattern—China’s national flower—to represent the growing strength of the region. These artistic touches aim to honour the athletes while showcasing the region’s cultural richness.
Ongoing Support for Chinese Athletics
Chow Tai Fook has a long history of supporting Chinese sports. In 2022, it launched the Cheng Kar-Shun Champion Development Foundation. Through this initiative, the company donated RMB 120 million to the Beijing Sport University Education Foundation. The funding supports elite athlete development, youth sports training, and career opportunities for national athletes.
The company says its goal is to build stronger connections between sports and education, and to help develop the next generation of Chinese athletes.
Leadership Voices
In a joint statement, Vice-chairmen Conroy Cheng and Sonia Cheng said, “For nearly a century, we have focused on fine design. Now we bring that skill to China’s top sporting stage. Each medal celebrates both athletic success and our 96 years of heritage. These awards reflect the spirit of the athletes and the artistic soul of our nation.”
Managing Director Kent Wong added, “This partnership shows our long-term commitment to national development through sports. We are proud to play a role in China’s vision for global sporting excellence. At the same time, we continue to link cultural heritage with modern creativity, inspiring future generations.”
