Luxury jeweler Cartier has notified customers that hackers accessed parts of its customer database, stealing names, email addresses, and countries of residence.
The company, which is part of the Swiss-based Richemont group, said the attackers did not gain access to passwords, credit card numbers, or any banking information.
This incident comes amid a series of recent cyberattacks targeting major brands, including Marks & Spencer, Harrods, The North Face, Victoria’s Secret, Christian Dior (Europe), as well as tech giants like Google, Apple, Microsoft, Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat.
In a statement, Cartier said: “We are writing to inform you that an unauthorized party gained temporary access to our system and obtained limited client information.
“We have since contained the issue and strengthened the protection of our systems and data. We have also notified the appropriate authorities and are working closely with leading external cybersecurity experts.”
