Following a successful run on the Gold Coast, the Australian Jewellery Fair will relocate to Adelaide for its 2026 edition, event organiser Expertise Events has announced. This marks a new chapter for the popular trade event, traditionally held early in the year.
Gary Fitz-Roy, managing director of the fair, explained the decision. He said the jewellery industry values having a trade fair soon after the busy Christmas and New Year retail period. “After two fantastic years on the Gold Coast, we’re excited to move to Adelaide,” he said.
The fair has strong backing from three major buying groups. These groups have helped shape the event’s unique blend of business and holiday atmosphere, which contributed greatly to its appeal on the Gold Coast.
Fitz-Roy added that the move to Adelaide was made in consultation with these groups. “To keep the event fresh and vibrant, it was time for the next step,” he said. He also emphasized that Adelaide is not a permanent home but part of a broader vision to take the fair to different tourism cities.
Adelaide offers an exciting new setting for the jewellery trade. The world-class Adelaide Convention Centre will provide wholesalers with fresh business opportunities, especially those who may not often have access to such events.
Fitz-Roy noted that the fair’s relocation took inspiration from the AFL’s ‘Gather Round’, which successfully brought new energy to Adelaide. The city’s central location also benefits retailers from Victoria, Tasmania, and Western Australia. With more airlines and flights serving Adelaide, it is easier and often cheaper to reach than the Gold Coast.
“Adelaide’s accessibility and the Convention Centre’s convenience make it an ideal choice,” Fitz-Roy said. He expressed confidence that the city, known as the ‘City of Churches,’ will warmly welcome the jewellery industry. Visitors will enjoy combining business with the many tourism attractions South Australia offers.
The Australian Jewellery Fair has built its success by staying boutique and focused. Unlike larger international events, it maintains a tabletop format, offering a more personal experience for buyers and suppliers.
“The location changes, but our winning formula stays the same,” Fitz-Roy said. “The mix of business and holiday atmosphere remains a key part of our strategy.”
The 2026 Australian Jewellery Fair is scheduled for April 19-20 in Adelaide. Plans are already underway to move the event to another tourism city in 2027, continuing its tradition of combining trade with travel.
