Studio Ghibli has reintroduced a popular high-end jewelry line through its official store. The collection includes earrings inspired by beloved films such as My Neighbor Totoro, Howl’s Moving Castle, and others. Released under the Donguri Closet brand, the collection is now available again for purchase.
Donguri Closet is a division of Studio Ghibli’s retail line that focuses on fashion and accessories for adults. Known for its sophisticated style, the brand has restocked several designs that were previously sold out. These elegant earrings are designed to pair well with Studio Ghibli-themed outfits and appeal to adult fans of the studio’s animated classics.
The restocked earrings feature simple yet imaginative designs based on various characters and items from Ghibli films. Several pieces are available in two styles: for pierced ears and a clip-on version for non-pierced ears. One design features the “Medium Totoro” from My Neighbor Totoro carrying a sack of acorns, with some of the acorns depicted as small, colorful beads.
From Howl’s Moving Castle, two new earring sets are available. One features Calcifer, the film’s talking flame. Another is modeled after Howl’s ring, complete with red and blue gemstones. Both designs are available only for pierced ears.
Kiki’s Delivery Service is also represented in the collection. The earrings feature Kiki resting her chin on her hand and surrounded by delicate flowers. Notably, the design focuses on Kiki herself rather than her cat companion, Jiji, offering a fresh take for longtime fans.
A surprising addition to the collection is a pair of earrings inspired by Arrietty, the protagonist of the film The Secret World of Arrietty, which is based on the novel The Borrowers. These earrings show Arrietty with two sugar cubes dangling beneath her, creating a playful scene as if she is sneaking through the wearer’s home. Like the Howl’s ring earrings, the Arrietty pair is only available for pierced ears.
The clip-on earrings are priced at 5,060 yen (approximately $36 USD), while the pierced-only versions cost 6,050 yen (about $42 USD). Light and whimsical, these earrings are ideal for summer wear and offer a nostalgic, yet stylish, way to celebrate Studio Ghibli’s legacy.
