Luxury jeweller Bulgari brought high jewellery and high art together in a spectacular showcase on the Sicilian coast, transforming the scenic town of Taormina into a glittering celebration of design and craftsmanship. The event marked the launch of the brand’s latest high jewellery line, the Polychroma collection.
Known for its bold colours and vibrant design, Bulgari displayed 600 dazzling pieces. This included 250 new creations, 60 pieces worth over a million euros each, and five special milestone designs. The Roman maison reinforced its philosophy during the event: Bulgari doesn’t simply find gems – it selects only the world’s most extraordinary stones.
The evening began with an exclusive gala dinner at the historic Grand Hotel Timeo. Celebrities such as Lisa from Blackpink, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Viola Davis, and Liu Yifei wore jewels from the Polychroma collection, designed by Bulgari’s creative director, Lucia Silvestri. Set on a terrace with views of Mount Etna and the Ionian Sea, the dinner combined Sicilian elegance with classical style. The setting featured local cuisine, refined décor, and Greek-inspired motifs, offering guests a poetic introduction to the night’s main event.
After dinner, attendees moved to the Ancient Greek Theatre of Taormina for a spectacular three-act show. Models dressed in custom gowns by Italian designer Francesco Murano walked the stage, each look paired with high jewellery pieces from the new collection. The performance was choreographed by Sir Wayne McGregor, resident choreographer at the Royal Ballet in London. His work combined dance and performance art to create a vivid visual story inspired by the jewellery itself.
The collection was also featured in an exhibition at the Palazzo San Domenico. The space blended fine art with fine jewellery, offering a closer look at the craftsmanship behind each piece. Digital artist Zach Lieberman collaborated with luxury textile brand Rubelli to produce mosaic-style digital artworks that hung above the jewellery displays. Local artist Alessandro Florio added to the immersive setting by including handcrafted tapestries, giving the exhibition a distinct Sicilian flair.
Bulgari also introduced three modern, interactive experiences. One was the Polychroma Theatre, an installation by artist Giuseppe Lo Schiavo, which used digital animation to breathe life into a classical statue from the mid-16th century. Another featured the Apple Vision Pro, allowing guests to explore the brand’s universe in an immersive virtual environment. Lastly, Bulgari revealed “Connected Jewelry” – a new feature that embeds a hidden digital code into each piece, giving owners access to exclusive details and stories behind their jewellery.
To mark the launch, the Bulgari Foundation announced its support for two cultural projects in Sicily. The first will restore historic frescoes at Palermo’s Palazzo Corvaja. The second is a new partnership with the Antonio Salinas Regional Archaeological Museum. These initiatives reflect Bulgari’s continued dedication to preserving Italian art and heritage.
