Modesto police arrested four people Sunday evening after a smash-and-grab robbery at a local jewelry store.
At around 6 p.m., officers responded to Sai Jewelers, located at 2900 Standiford Avenue, where a red Mitsubishi had crashed into the store’s front doors. This forced entry allowed several suspects—wearing hoodies, masks, and gloves—to enter and steal a large amount of jewelry. The suspects then fled in multiple vehicles.
Just minutes before the robbery report, police were investigating a stolen vehicle flagged by the department’s License Plate Reader (LPR) system. This led to the arrest of four individuals. Officers found items in their vehicle that matched those used in the jewelry store robbery.
The Modesto Police Department believes the stolen car and the robbery are connected. They also suspect the group may be involved in similar robberies in Oakland, Alameda County, and Beverly Hills.
The suspects arrested are Nasir Blocker, 19, and Anton Crawford, 24, both from Oakland; Gangster Lawson, 24, from El Cerrito; and Nehemiah Miller, 21, from Valley Springs. They face charges of robbery, conspiracy, and vehicle theft.
Bail for each suspect is set at $1,000,000, except for Blocker, whose bail is $2,000,000.
