Tiffany & Co has introduced a new high-jewelry diamond watch that features innovative solar technology. This launch marks the company’s growing focus on watchmaking.
The watch, called the Rope, is designed with a twisted gold pattern. This design is inspired by Jean Schlumberger, the famous jewelry designer who lived from 1907 to 1987. The watch uses solar cells placed under a semi-transparent dial to capture light.
Thanks to a collaboration with Swiss movement expert La Joux Perret, the watch can run for eight months on a full charge without needing any light.
Tiffany has a long history in watchmaking. It first partnered with Patek Philippe in 1851 and later built its own watch factory in Geneva.
Although watches have always been a small part of Tiffany’s business, their importance has grown since LVMH bought the company in 2021.
Since then, Tiffany has released new watch collections like Eternity Round, Eternity Cushion, HardWear, and Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany. These collections take inspiration from Tiffany’s popular jewelry designs.
The Rope watch’s bezel features two braided gold rope rings. Between these rings is a band set with round brilliant diamonds.
The new Rope watch comes in an 18k yellow gold case. It is available in two sizes: a 27mm model with 38 diamonds weighing 0.52 carats, priced at $16,000, and a 33mm model with 39 diamonds totaling 0.90 carats, priced at $22,000.
