Model Alex Consani made a dazzling debut at the 2025 Met Gala, arriving in a suit dress covered in 18,400 Swarovski crystals. The theme of the evening, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” celebrated elegance and cultural influence—and Consani fully embodied both.
The custom look was created by Swarovski in collaboration with Consani and her stylist, Carlos Nazario. Designed to reflect the night’s theme, the suit dress featured classic tailoring with a sparkling twist. “Alex herself was the starting point of inspiration,” said Giovanna Engelbert, Swarovski’s global creative director. “Since this was her first Met Gala, we wanted a design that felt timeless but also made a strong impact. Something she could remember forever.”
The dress was an ecru floor-length piece with a plunging neckline and side cutouts. Its standout feature was the crystal-covered lapels that wrapped around her waist and back. Each of the 18,400 crystals was placed by hand.
Consani said working with the Swarovski team was a refreshing and rare experience. “Getting the chance to collaborate with people you admire in the design world doesn’t happen often,” she said. “It felt like a real partnership. The sketches they showed me were exactly what I had imagined.”
She also shared the deeper meaning behind her Met Gala moment. She named fashion legends André Leon Talley and Patrick Kelly as inspirations. “I think it’s important to pay tribute to Black dandyism and think about how it can shape the future of fashion,” she said. “This shouldn’t just be a one-time thing. It should be a reason for people to learn about the rich history of fashion. There’s so much more than what we see online.”
Consani’s look was more than a fashion statement—it was a tribute to legacy, style, and the power of collaboration.
