Two men remain on the run after a jewelry store robbery inside Saskatoon’s Centre Mall on Wednesday afternoon.
The Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) received a call just before 2 p.m. reporting that two masked individuals entered the Jewels store, armed with bags and axes. Police say the men smashed several display cases and stole multiple items before fleeing the scene.
In a statement, Centre Mall confirmed the robbery and said that police arrived shortly after being alerted. The mall is cooperating with authorities as the investigation continues.
Despite the incident, Centre Mall remains open and is operating during its regular hours.
Jewels, the store involved, declined to comment on the robbery when approached for a statement.
As of now, the Saskatoon Police have not provided any description of the suspects or disclosed their identities. There is also no information on how the robbers escaped or where they might be.
Police are asking the public for help in identifying the suspects. Anyone with information or video footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or call the Saskatoon Police directly at 306-975-8300.
Centre Mall, located just off Circle Drive and 8th Street, is Saskatchewan’s largest one-level shopping center, home to over 100 stores, including major electronics and clothing retailers, as well as a Cineplex movie theater.
