Gemological International (GSI) has announced the opening of a new laboratory in Bangkok, Thailand. Bangkok is a key center for colored gemstone cutting, polishing, and trading.
This new lab is GSI’s 14th facility worldwide and is situated in the heart of Bangkok’s gem and jewelry district.
The lab will provide a full range of services, including testing, analysis, and grading reports for colored gemstones, both natural and laboratory-grown diamonds, finished jewelry, and pearls.
In addition, the Bangkok lab will offer screening services to identify laboratory-grown diamonds and diamond simulants.
GSI stated that the lab will be staffed by a team of highly trained local gemologists.
Debbie Azar, president of GSI, said, “Our mission is to expand our labs to meet the changing needs of the industry while building trust through objective, scientific gemological services.”
She added, “Bangkok has long been a global hub for the colored gemstone trade. It was important for GSI to establish a strong presence close to our clients’ operations.”
