Camille Zarsky’s popular New York City jewelry and accessories store, The Seven, will close later this year. This change comes as Zarsky joins Trove in a new role, which could lead to future retail opportunities.
Trove described its purchase of The Seven as an acquisition and part of its “strategic expansion plans” in New York City. The company confirmed it will close The Seven’s well-known Bleecker Street store in July.
Jen Rubio, Trove’s majority investor, is now leading the company’s strategy. Trove’s founder, Hannah Ward, stepped away from daily operations in January.
“We’re excited to merge The Seven and Trove into a single, unified experience for our clients,” Rubio said. “Since the two stores are only a few blocks apart, it makes sense to focus our efforts on one main location. This will allow us to blend our teams and vision for fine jewelry.”
Rubio added, “This is about two creative forces coming together to create something bigger and future-focused. We have plans that match our shared vision for immersive, elevated experiences that go beyond traditional retail.”
Rubio aims to grow Trove into a broader platform that combines thoughtful retail, creative programming, curation, and support for designers.
As part of the acquisition, Zarsky will receive support from Rubio for a new design venture expected to launch later in 2025. Zarsky will also curate several pop-up events related to The Seven throughout the fall.
“I’m excited to join Trove as an advisor, bringing my curatorial eye and creative sensibility to this next chapter,” Zarsky told JCK. “I will work closely with Jen on storytelling, partnerships, and brand vision. Together, we will shape Trove’s growth into new formats, digital experiences, and possibly new locations.”
Zarsky said she looks forward to collaborating with Rubio, whose vision and experience as a builder inspire her.
“There is so much more we can do together,” Zarsky said. “Joining Trove lets me scale the spirit of The Seven while being part of something bigger.”
The Seven, a boutique-style store decorated with antiques, hand-painted floral and dog wallpaper, and hand-painted floors, opened in the West Village in December 2022. Zarsky earned praise for focusing on independent jewelry designers and for creating personal connections between clients and their jewelry.
Trove opened its flagship store in the West Village in 2024, offering jewelry boxes, fine jewelry, and curated designer-in-residence programs. Rubio is best known as the cofounder and former CEO of Away, a direct-to-consumer luggage and travel brand.
On Instagram, Zarsky shared that she first heard Rubio speak at an event for female business founders and admired her work with Away.
“Life has a way of coming full circle,” Zarsky wrote. “I never imagined I’d one day partner with her. The Seven will stay open a little longer, but follow along at Trove. More to come as we start this exciting new adventure.”
Rubio replied in the comments, “We’re going to do great things together.”
