A woman traveling from Delhi to Pune reported that gold jewellery and cash were stolen from her luggage during an Air India flight. The case is now under investigation at Vimantal Police Station.
The victim, 36-year-old Sanyogita Haripal Singh Chauhan from Vikaspuri, Delhi, filed a complaint with the police. Following her report, an FIR was registered against an unknown person on charges of theft.
Police said Chauhan was on an Air India flight on May 22. During the journey, five grams of gold jewellery and ₹13,500 in cash were taken from her purse. The purse was inside her handbag, which she kept in the aircraft cabin.
The theft was noticed only after the flight landed. Chauhan filed the FIR early on May 23, around 3:15 AM. So far, no suspect has been identified, and no arrests have been made.
This incident highlights a growing problem of valuables disappearing from passengers’ bags during flights. Many travelers have expressed worry about the increasing number of thefts. They say airlines often do not take responsibility, even after multiple complaints.
