Jewelry designer Ariana Boussard-Reifel has unveiled her latest collection, Nina, a tribute to the strength and transformative power of women’s relationships. With her Spring line, the New York City-based artist celebrates the bonds women share and their ability to inspire positive change.
Named after the Mesopotamian goddess of water, Nina (also known as Nanshe), the collection features 40 pieces, some named after water-related terms like “eddy” and “monsoon.” These names reflect the goddess’s connection to the ocean and symbolize fluidity and change.
Nina, in mythology, also embodies justice, social welfare, and cooperation, values Boussard-Reifel emphasizes in her work, especially at a time when these qualities may seem scarce.
“In these challenging political times, I’m trying to stay hopeful and persistent. I’m constantly inspired by the women around me—those building bridges and driving movements that create positive change,” says Boussard-Reifel. “Women are coming together to challenge patriarchy in ways only they can. This strength fuels my inspiration.”
The goddess Nina is also linked to dream interpretation, and Boussard-Reifel draws from her own dreams to shape the collection. “Each collection is a blend of aesthetics and a reflection of the cultural moment. It’s not about following trends, but capturing the spirit of the times and what feels meaningful for our community,” she explains.
She adds, “I love blending ancient cultural symbols with contemporary social issues. For me, this adds depth to the work, especially coming from a conceptual art background.”
The collection is marked by softer, more organic shapes, a shift from Boussard-Reifel’s previous designs. While she enjoys sharp lines, she found excitement in incorporating curves and circles into the pieces.
One standout piece from the collection is the Sinew hoop earring. “They’re large and bold—wearing them makes anyone feel like a bombshell,” says Boussard-Reifel.
The Nina cuff bracelet is another favorite. “Cuff bracelets are a signature of my collections. I believe they represent both power and connection. The new Nina cuff is unique, with a nod to tailoring but a distinctly feminine, organic form. It fits everyone and can elevate any outfit.”
For the marketing and photography of the Nina collection, Boussard-Reifel gathered a group of women she admires—professional colleagues, as well as mothers and daughters. The collection’s photos reflect a sense of feminine strength, hope, and love, qualities Boussard-Reifel wanted to showcase.
“These women have had lives as adventurers, artists, healers, educators, and organizers. You can feel their strength in the photos,” she says. “Ranging from 18 to 80 years old, they inspire me with how they’ve chosen to live their lives. They are the type of women I hope our brand will encourage and inspire.”
For Boussard-Reifel, creating a collection that celebrates feminine connection through jewelry is an achievement in itself. “I’m so fortunate to be surrounded by strong women—my mother, my daughter, my team, and the women in my community,” she shares. “Adult friendships can be difficult to form, but when working toward a shared cause, the bonds become natural, and we uplift each other.”
Through the Nina collection, Boussard-Reifel not only celebrates the art of jewelry but also honors the powerful connections that shape and inspire us.
