People who want to add sparkle to their lives now have a new place to visit in Lehigh County.
Hometown Spark, a permanent jewelry and charm bar studio, will celebrate its grand opening from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 31. The studio is located at 20 Main St. in Slatington.
The owner, Courtney Corona from Palmerton, started the business as a mobile service in July 2023. She attended public and private events and quickly built a loyal following.
“It’s been almost two years, and at first, I was completely mobile,” Corona said.
“My business is called Hometown Spark. So, I focused on doing events in and around my hometown, which I consider the Lehigh Valley.”
As demand grew and many customers asked if Hometown Spark had a permanent location, Corona decided to open a physical studio earlier this year.
The new studio is in Slatington’s Riverside Plaza, near the Main Street Bridge over the Lehigh River. It had a soft opening in April.
Corona said the community support has been very positive during the studio’s first month.
“We’ve received great feedback, and we are very thankful,” she told 69 News.
“The main reason I opened the studio so quickly is because many clients asked where they could find us permanently. That encouraged me and showed me that now is the right time to have a studio. People want this.”
Permanent jewelry is different from traditional jewelry because it has no clasp. Instead, the ends are welded together. This makes the jewelry last longer and be worn for a long time.
Customers can choose from different materials and styles like bracelets, necklaces, and anklets.
Corona said belly chains are especially popular in the warmer months.
“I usually explain to people that it’s like a bracelet without a clasp,” she said.
“We take the ends of the chain they pick and micro-weld them together. Since there is no clasp, you can’t take it off easily — that’s why it’s called permanent jewelry.”
How long people wear the permanent jewelry varies. Corona noted that with proper care, it can last for years.
