Police have launched a manhunt for two suspects linked to the “Termite” gang. They stole jewelry and cash worth P3.7 million from a pawnshop in Quezon City on Tuesday.
Authorities said the suspects dug a hole from a nearby drainage manhole. This hole led directly into EJM pawnshop, located at the corner of Quirino Highway and Susana Street in Barangay Gulod.
Employees discovered the robbery at around 4:46 a.m. They immediately reported it to the Novaliches police station.
Closed-circuit television footage showed the suspects coming out of the hole they made inside the pawnshop. Once inside, the burglars disabled the alarm system and tampered with the surveillance cameras to avoid being caught.
The thieves then used an acetylene torch to force open a vault. They took jewelry valued at P3.5 million and cash amounting to P200,000.
The police continue to investigate the case as they work to identify and capture the suspects.
