Two house cleaners in South Florida are facing serious theft charges. They are accused of stealing jewelry, cash, and other valuables from clients in Broward and Palm Beach counties.
The Broward County Sheriff’s Office (BSO) identified the suspects as 61-year-old Oscar German Munoz and 57-year-old Martha Cecilia Molano, both from Coral Springs. According to authorities, the pair targeted elderly and wealthy clients. They gained trust by working as house cleaners but used the opportunity to steal from their clients.
The investigation started in early April after an elderly couple in the Yardley community reported that thousands of dollars’ worth of valuables had gone missing. Surveillance cameras captured Munoz and Molano waiting for the couple to leave. They then entered the home with cleaning supplies and left shortly after.
On May 5, detectives searched the suspects’ residence and found hundreds of stolen items. These included necklaces, rings, watches, earrings, gems, coins, and cash. The investigation showed a pattern of similar thefts in the community. Authorities believe the stolen jewelry was sold at pawn shops to support expensive trips abroad.
Munoz and Molano were arrested and charged with burglary of an unoccupied structure and grand theft involving amounts between $750 and $5,000. The crimes reportedly date back to July 2022. The investigation is still active. Detectives think the suspects might have committed crimes in other parts of Tamarac and Palm Beach County.
Officials are asking anyone who may have been a victim to contact BSO Detective Danny Polo at 954-720-2225. They also advise people to carefully check house cleaning services before hiring. This includes researching companies online, verifying licenses and insurance, asking for references, and getting multiple estimates.
