On Thursday evening, Cartier hosted an exclusive event to celebrate the grand reopening of its Melbourne boutique. Located at the prestigious Paris-end of Collins Street, the newly renovated store is the result of 11 months of careful planning and design. The space pays tribute to Cartier’s heritage while embracing the spirit of Melbourne’s vibrant atmosphere.
“This boutique is a tribute to Cartier’s deep connection with Melbourne—a city known for its creativity, diversity, and energy,” said Thomas Crye, Managing Director of Cartier Oceania. “We’re proud to provide an experience that reflects both the Maison’s history and the beauty of Australia’s landscape.”
As guests entered the boutique, they were immediately enveloped by the warmth of the space. Earthy tones of green, yellow, and natural wood finishes created a welcoming atmosphere. True to Cartier’s style, the boutique celebrates not only its iconic collections but also the world of art. A bespoke glass marquetry panel, created by Myriam Hubert, takes center stage in the first room. It depicts a panther among native flora, setting the tone for the display of Cartier’s most celebrated collections, including Juste Un Clou, Clash, Love, and Grain de Café.
Guests then moved into the second room, where the boutique’s atmosphere shifted. The space, featuring wood paneling from Tasmania, exuded warmth and intimacy. This area is dedicated to Cartier’s watchmaking collection, with a striking quartz chandelier designed by Melbourne’s Christopher Boots hanging overhead.
The most significant transformation of the boutique is its expansion across two floors. On the upper level, visitors can explore Cartier’s high jewellery, fine jewellery, and bridal collections. The space invites guests to take in the luxury and craftsmanship of the Maison’s creations. A private hospitality area serves champagne and bespoke cocktails daily, offering a relaxing retreat. The private salon, with hand-painted silk and beaded de Gournay wallpaper, also features a nod to the Victorian Botanical Gardens.
After the boutique’s opening, guests were invited to an exclusive after party at the nearby Maison Bâtard restaurant. The dimly lit bar below the restaurant set the stage for a DJ set, with Angus Stone’s Dope Lemon providing the perfect soundtrack. The atmosphere was lively, with guests enjoying red velvet-lined booths, while trays of fries and cheeseburgers, alongside flowing Cartier champagne, made the night even more memorable.
