This spring, the Watches & Jewellery Collection presents a unique Belle Époque necklace, featuring an exceptionally large natural pearl set in platinum. The necklace, believed to have been crafted in Paris around 1900, showcases a rarity seldom seen in today’s market.
The pearl’s size is particularly remarkable, as only one in 10,000 wild oysters produces a natural pearl. Of those, only a few meet the high standards of size, color, and shape desired by the jewellery industry. Furthermore, no new pearls of this kind are being produced, as pearl diving is no longer allowed.
Sandra Johansson, a jewellery specialist at Stockholms Auktionsverk, describes the piece: “The necklace is made entirely of platinum, set with beautifully cut diamonds, and features one of the largest pearls I’ve ever encountered. It is nearly twice the size of the pearl once worn by French queen Marie Antoinette.”
Among other exceptional items in the collection is a glamorous gala suite featuring 34 high-grade Colombian emeralds, each surrounded by diamonds. Also on display is a delicate necklace with extremely rare modified rectangular brilliant-cut blue and pink diamonds. Natural pink diamonds, some of the most valuable and scarce gems in the world, can reach prices over USD 2 million per carat.
The auction will also offer a curated selection of rare collector’s watches from top-tier brands. Highlights include iconic pieces like the Patek Philippe Golden Ellipse, Rolex Daytona in steel, the 1970s Lemania “Viggen,” Rolex Explorer II “Steve McQueen,” and Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso. The catalogue also features Rolex classics such as the Datejust, Submariner, GMT Master II, and Yacht Master, as well as models from other renowned brands like Omega Speedmaster and Cartier Santos in multiple variations.
The Watches & Jewellery Collection is currently on public view at Nybrogatan 32 in Stockholm and will be available for auction on May 23.
