Zucker, born into a family of gem dealers, has always approached stones with an artistic eye, often comparing their colors to specific hues in paintings. This artistic perspective has shaped his career since the early 1970s. Over the years, Zucker has become a respected scholar and collector of antique diamonds and jewels.
His books, such as “How to Buy and Sell Gems: Everyone’s Guide to Rubies, Sapphires, Emeralds, and Diamonds” and “Gems and Jewels: A Connoisseur’s Guide,” aim to make gemstones more accessible to the general public. Zucker also coauthored a biography of Elihu Yale, the famous collector and Yale University namesake, with jewelry historian Diana Scarisbrick.
