A rare collection of handcrafted diamond and jewellery pieces from Italy is making its debut at the 55th Watch and Jewellery Middle East Show, currently taking place at Expo Centre Sharjah. The event is organised by Expo Centre Sharjah with support from the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI).
The Italian pavilion is drawing strong attention from jewellery enthusiasts and luxury collectors around the world. The showcased pieces, designed by some of Italy’s most renowned jewellery designers, are being presented in Sharjah for the first time.
Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the SCCI, visited the Italian pavilion along with SCCI Board Members Mohamed Rashid Ali Demas and H.E. Ali Hilal Al Hazami. Mona Sultan Al Suwaidi, Director of the Executive Office of the SCCI Chairman and head of the Emirati Goldsmiths platform, also joined the visit.
The delegation explored the wide range of jewellery on display, which includes rare gemstones such as pure diamonds, vivid blue sapphires, and striking emeralds. The pieces are made from 18-karat gold and high-grade natural diamonds, with each design carefully crafted by hand.
This year, the Italian pavilion includes around 50 participating brands, reflecting a 15% increase compared to the previous edition. This growth highlights Italy’s strong position as the world’s third-largest jewellery supplier and the top European exporter to the UAE. In 2024, Italian jewellery exports to the UAE exceeded €1.22 billion.
Al Owais praised the strong economic relationship between the UAE and Italy. He said the rising number of Italian exhibitors shows the UAE’s importance as a global trade hub and a gateway to regional markets. He also noted that Sharjah’s welcoming business environment continues to attract international investors.
Italian participants stated that all the pieces on display were specially designed and produced for this event. Each design is made in very limited numbers—usually no more than two of each—catering to clients looking for rare and exclusive items. They also emphasized that every piece is entirely handcrafted, which adds significant value to the collection.
