MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – The Memphis Police Department is actively pursuing a suspect following the theft of 12 diamond rings from a local jewelry store.
The incident unfolded on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at approximately 5:00 PM at Mufasa Memphis Jeweler, located on Getwell Road.
According to authorities, a male individual entered the establishment, ostensibly inquiring about various jewelry items. In a cunning move, the suspect initially appeared to exit the premises, triggering the door alarm. However, unbeknownst to the staff, he concealed himself within the store.
Exploiting a moment of distraction, the suspect pilfered a tray of valuable rings. It wasn’t until an inventory check was conducted that the store realized the disappearance of several rings.
Security camera footage captured the thief’s actions as he leisurely approached the jewelry display case. With deliberate intent, he reached over the counter and deftly opened the case. The male suspect was observed removing a tray containing 12 precious diamond rings, covertly concealing it within his pants, and casually exiting the business premises.
The suspect is described as a male individual with hair styled in twists, aged between 27 to 37 years old, standing between 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet 2 inches tall, and weighing approximately 150 to 180 pounds. During the theft, he was attired in a black muscle shirt, dark jean pants, and black and white shoes.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the case, and law enforcement continues to diligently investigate this incident.
