Dora Mae Jewelry, a local favorite known for transforming vintage heirlooms into stylish, wearable pieces, has officially expanded its offerings to include fine jewelry. The studio now crafts with gold, platinum, sapphires, emeralds, and diamonds—marking a new chapter for the creative brand.
Founder Ansley describes the move as a personal and passionate step forward.
“I could give you a business reason for the transition,” she says. “But the truth is, I followed my passion. I believe every creative in business needs to do that, or a part of them will fade.”
That passion has always been central to Dora Mae’s identity. The brand began as a tribute to Ansley’s grandmother, Dora Mae—a woman with a creative spirit, a love for beauty, and a talent for poetry and piano despite only having a third-grade education.
After her grandmother passed, Ansley started reworking a few of her vintage jewelry pieces into modern designs. What began as a sentimental gesture soon attracted attention. Friends brought over bags of old jewelry for Ansley to transform. Each piece told a new story. Each redesign added fresh meaning. From there, the business was born.
Today, Dora Mae is offering more sparkle—but staying true to its roots.
“I’ve always loved original vintage and antique fine jewelry,” Ansley explains. “Each piece has a handmade feel and a deep story behind it. Now, we carry a growing collection of antique rings, necklaces, earrings, and bracelets.”
In addition to selling antique pieces, Dora Mae is now a full-service fine custom jewelry studio. The team specializes in heirloom transformations, helping clients redesign old jewelry into modern pieces that still honor their history.
Clients can bring in family heirlooms, loose stones, or even broken pieces. The team then works to turn them into new jewelry that reflects the client’s personal style.
“If you visit Dora Mae, you’ll experience the joy of transformation,” says Ansley. “We help people create meaningful, beautiful jewelry that expresses who they are.”
Customers can also shop from the curated collection of vintage fine jewelry available in-store. Each piece is chosen for its timeless style and unique story.
With this expansion, Dora Mae Jewelry is offering more than just glitz and glamour. It’s keeping the spirit of storytelling and creativity alive—one custom piece at a time.
And for Ivanhoe Village, that shimmer now shines a little brighter.
