Mia Threapleton, daughter of Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet, dazzled on the red carpet at the New York City premiere of The Phoenician Scheme. She wore an emerald green, strapless gown by Elie Saab, complete with a train, alongside co-star Scarlett Johansson.
Threapleton has built a strong acting career and developed a notable sense of style. At the event, she accessorized her dress with jewelry from Maison Boucheron’s Quatre Radiant Edition collection. According to a statement from the jeweler to Hello!, Mia wore a white gold necklace set with diamonds valued at $280,000. She also wore a matching ring worth $61,000 and two diamond ear clips priced at $2,643 each. In total, her jewelry was valued at more than $346,000.
This appearance on May 28 follows Mia’s previous outings in custom Oscar de la Renta and Chopard at the Cannes Film Festival. Earlier, she wore vintage Fendi from the 1980s. Hello! described her fashion choices as “signs of a rising star with serious taste.” The outlet also compared her to her mother, calling Kate Winslet “British cinema royalty,” while describing Mia as “the Gen Z queen-in-waiting.”
Kate Winslet and Mia Threapleton worked together on the 2022 project I Am Ruth. Winslet praised her daughter’s acting during an interview on BBC One’s Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg. She said she was “blown away” by Mia’s performance.
Winslet explained that Mia didn’t really need her help, though she offered some technical advice. “Sometimes I could introduce her to a technical trick here and there, like changing an eye line,” Winslet said. “Little things like that, that no one teaches you, and she appreciated it.”
She added that working together allowed them to push each other’s buttons, which helped during filming. Winslet recalled moments when Mia would say, “Shut up Mum, let me do it!”
Regarding Mia’s decision to follow her into acting, Winslet said, “I think I knew it was coming. I always suspected. Then a few years ago, she said, ‘I’d like to give it a go.’”
Winslet also noted the advantage of Mia using a different last name. This helped her avoid the spotlight and allowed casting directors to judge her on her own merits. “That was important for her self-esteem,” Winslet said.
