Maple Ridge, BC – The Albion Fairgrounds in Maple Ridge will come alive with a dazzling array of colors and sparkles this Saturday as the Maple Ridge Lapidary Club presents its much-anticipated annual Rock, Gem, and Jewelry Market.

This family-friendly event boasts nearly 30 vendors, each offering a unique assortment of handcrafted jewelry, precious gems, fascinating rocks, and related items, according to club member Walter Pinder.

Pinder noted, “Attendees can expect a stunning showcase of soapstone carvings and the exciting opportunity to purchase and crack open a pristine white geode.”

In addition to indulging in some retail therapy, visitors can participate in selecting the recipient of the prestigious People’s Choice award. This coveted honor is bestowed upon the Maple Ridge Lapidary Club member whose cabochon garners the highest number of public votes.

The event also invites both children and adults to express their creativity by painting delightful whale designs on an assortment of rocks. Hourly door prizes will add an extra layer of excitement throughout the event.

Furthermore, the club will proudly showcase its Mine-Ores program, designed to engage young rock enthusiasts between the ages of six and 16. One of their recent projects involved crafting personal rock collections using egg cartons, which will be exhibited for all to admire.

The Albion Fairgrounds will also host the Agri Mexican Cantina food truck to ensure attendees have a delightful culinary experience.

The Rock, Gem, and Jewelry Market will take place at the Albion Fairgrounds, located at 23588 Jim Robson Way, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Saturday, September 23. Admission is by donation, and complimentary parking is available on-site.

“We eagerly anticipate the community’s presence at this event,” remarked Pinder.

Following the Rock, Gem, and Jewelry Market, the Maple Ridge Lapidary Club will participate in the National Tree Day event at Maple Ridge Park on September 27. Club members will set up an information booth and offer various engaging activities to entertain the public during this upcoming occasion.
