GIA Hosts Informative Open Day at London Campus

London- The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) is delighted to announce an upcoming open day event at its London campus, offering attendees an exclusive opportunity to explore the pathways to a thriving career in the realm of precious gems and exquisite jewelry.

This event, tailored for individuals eager to delve into the realm of gemology and jewelry craftsmanship, will be held free of charge. Attendees can look forward to engaging in immersive, hands-on classroom demonstrations covering a spectrum of topics including computer-aided design for jewelry (CAD), the art of gemology, and the intricacies of jewelry design hand rendering.

The agenda for the afternoon unfolds as follows:

1:30 pm: Doors will open, granting attendees access to GIA staff members equipped to address inquiries regarding GIA and its esteemed credential programs.
Throughout the day, attendees can partake in the enlightening “What is Gemology?” lecture and actively participate in a diverse array of hands-on activities.

2:00-3:00 pm: A Jewelry Design hands-on session will provide attendees with the opportunity to refine their skills in sketching rudimentary jewelry designs manually. Additionally, a Diamonds class hands-on session will impart the knowledge necessary to differentiate between simulant diamonds and their natural counterparts.

3:00-4:00 pm: A captivating Computer-Aided Design (CAD) demonstration will empower participants to create elementary jewelry designs utilizing specialized CAD software. Concurrently, a hands-on session centered around colored gemstones will afford attendees an intimate encounter with an array of captivating gemstone specimens.

4:00-5:00 pm: The Jewelry Design hands-on session will be reintroduced, inviting attendees to further hone their jewelry sketching abilities. Simultaneously, the Diamonds class hands-on session will continue its exploration of distinguishing simulant diamonds from their genuine counterparts.

5:00-6:00 pm: The event will culminate with another Computer-Aided Design (CAD) demonstration, offering attendees the chance to craft uncomplicated jewelry designs using advanced CAD software.
