A popular New York-based jewelry brand, Catbird, is set to make its debut in Atlanta. The company plans to open a new store at Ponce City Market, located at 675 Ponce De Leon Avenue NE. According to a building permit filed with the City of Atlanta, the shop will take over the 1,000-square-foot space previously occupied by Goorin Bros. Hat Shop.
Founded by Rony Vardi in 2004, Catbird started in a small 225-square-foot space in Brooklyn’s Williamsburg neighborhood. Initially offering jewelry, art supplies, jeans, and candles, the brand now operates multiple locations across the U.S. with stores in New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Washington D.C., San Francisco, and Philadelphia.
Catbird has built a reputation for its commitment to sustainability, using 95 percent recycled 14k gold and 95 percent recycled diamonds in its designs. The brand’s collection includes delicate, stackable rings, engagement rings, wedding bands, permanent bracelets, earrings, and more. It has gained attention from high-profile celebrities like Taylor Swift, Phoebe Bridgers, and Jenny Slate.
In July 2024, The New York Times reported that Catbird plans to expand further, targeting more locations across the country by 2026. Atlanta is among the cities on its radar for expansion. Last year, Catbird held a pop-up event at the Warby Parker store in Buckhead Village.
